With a shared passion for hospitality and a deep respect for the local culture, Adrian and Annelise found the perfect location: a scenic stretch of coast overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean.

They envisioned a hotel that blended luxury with authenticity, offering guests an immersive experience of Zanzibar's natural and cultural treasures.

And so Double A Nungwi was born. The name reflects their shared initials and the two goals of their venture: exceptional guest experiences and community empowerment.

Nungwi sits at the northern tip of Zanzibar Island, where the Indian Ocean and Zanzibar Channel converge. The village is famous for its traditional dhow-building craft, its vibrant fish market, and some of the most spectacular sunsets in the world.

Unlike the south of the island, Nungwi's beach is tide-independent, so the water stays calm, clear and swimmable all day long. A rare and precious quality that makes our stretch of coast truly unique.
